App O’ the Month: Color
Today we take a look at Color; a cool, crazy, confusing and controversial new location-based photo sharing phone app. Download the app, and check out this hysterical review of the user interface. Enjoy.
App O’ the Month: Evernote
![]()
OK, I admit I’m late to the party on this, but in case you’re even further behind the times than me, you need to check out Evernote. Basically it’s a computer and mobile app that allows you to capture media (notes, photos, audio) and access it from anywhere.
The cool shit:
1. Could-based: access your stuff from anywhere – computer, phone, tablet.
2. Organize – use tags and keywords to find things fast.
3. Searchable – Handwritten notes and text inside photographs are searchable. Wow.
4. Ease-of-Use: An installable add-on for your browser makes it super-duper-easy to grab stuff from the net and drop it in your file.
So stop being so late to the party and get organized and productive with Evernote.
App O’ the Month: Hipstamatic
Although it’s not new , I recently introduced the Hipstamatic app to the rest of the Hunch Free staff, and they’ve gone wild over it.
The basics: Super groovy photo app turns your iPhone camera into an old-school analog instamatic.
The nitty-gritty: Pictures shot with the Hipstamatic take on the unpredictable beauty of the plastic cameras of the ’70′s. The photographs are characterized by heavy saturation, discolored images and vignettes. Base app costs $1.99.
The options: The base model app comes with 3 lenses, 3 types of film, plus two standard flashes. They all produce fantastically different effects. Additional lenses, film and flashes can be purchased through the in-app store.
The marketing hook: The Big Hipstamatic Show – a monthly photo contest hosted by the developers encourages users to upload their photos and vie for prizes. Voting is done through twitter, where every vote potentially exposes the app to new customers. Brilliant method for building a community. (BTW – hook me up with a vote here - thanks!)
The bottom line: Just look at the pics…it’s nostalgia in a can! An incredibly fun, super addictive app that doesn’t get old in a few days. Badass.
